Ukraine exported 899,600 t of agricultural goods on 1–18 August, including 522,000 t of grain. What this means for routes, storage and pricing.

From 1 to 18 August 2026, Ukraine exported 899,600 tonnes of agricultural products. The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food estimated this at about 31% of potential volume under full logistics access. Grain experienced the most significant constraint.
How much grain and other produce was shipped
- grain — 522,000 tonnes, around 20% of potential volume;
- oilseeds — 63,000 tonnes;
- vegetable oils — 128,000 tonnes;
- meals — 86,000 tonnes.
Oilseeds and processed products can be redistributed between alternative channels more easily. For bulk grain cargoes, delivery accounts for a much larger share of the final price, so higher logistics costs can quickly make an export movement uneconomic.
What changes for grain exporters
When capacity on a primary route is restricted, cargoes wait longer and require more buffer storage. Exporters should align the truck delivery window, available storage, loading rate and vessel draught before dispatch. The export routes guide explains the operational sequence.
For southern Odesa region, the Danube remains a practical outlet. Kiliya Port can combine road delivery, port-side accumulation and vessel loading. This does not remove market risk, but it can reduce unnecessary cargo movements when the route is planned as one chain.
How to reduce cargo waiting risk
- compare the full EXW, CPT and FOB logistics cost, not only the handling rate;
- reserve grain storage near the port before dispatch;
- coordinate truck and vessel schedules before accumulation starts;
- allow time for laboratory checks and export documentation.
The season's key issue is not only grain availability, but the cost and predictability of moving it from storage to the vessel.
The official figures describe the position as of 18 August 2026. Decisions for a specific cargo should use current freight rates, transport availability and the terminal's operating window on the planned shipment date.
