How to Export Grain

7 steps from contract to shipment — with GTK support

Exporting grain from Ukraine is a multi-stage process requiring coordination of logistics, documentation and port services. A mistake at any stage can lead to shipment delays or financial losses.

GTK terminal at Kiliya port handles the full cycle of grain preparation and export shipment. We support clients from the first weighing to bill of lading issuance — so you can focus on your business.

7 Steps to Export Grain

1

Sign the Agreement

Everything starts with discussing terms: batch volume, crop type, shipment timeline, tariffs. A transshipment contract is signed based on agreed conditions.

GTK prepares the contract and coordinates all terms

2

Deliver Grain to Terminal

Grain is delivered by truck. Proper logistics planning is essential to avoid idle time and unloading queues.

GTK can arrange delivery with your fleet or ours (10 VOLVO trucks)

3

Receiving & Quality Control

Every batch is weighed and undergoes laboratory analysis: moisture, impurities, protein, gluten. Results determine price and export eligibility.

GTK laboratory delivers results within 2 hours

4

Storage & Preparation

If needed, grain is stored in warehouses until loading. Drying or fumigation may be required to meet buyer specifications.

5

Documentation

Export requires a document package: phytosanitary certificate, quality certificate, customs declaration, CMR, bill of lading and more. Without them, shipment is impossible.

GTK prepares the complete document package turnkey

6

Vessel Loading

Loading is performed with port equipment. Throughput and efficiency depend on the equipment and crew experience.

1,500–2,500 t/day, FUCHS MHL 360 crane + conveyors

7

Departure & Bill of Lading

After loading, the vessel undergoes port departure clearance. A bill of lading is issued — the document confirming cargo shipment.
